abstract
Knowing that the nutritional conditions affect the growth and child development, this study seeks to know the nutritional situation of children attending the municipal Daycare centers in Crato-EC. We visited 19 units in which it was evaluated 484 children from the Z score, by the standard deviation using the indicators weight for age (P/I), weight / height (P/E) and height/age (E/I), They were compared to the standard of reference NCHS; classified themselves as eutrophic, children with a range of weight, height for age between -1 ≤ DP <+1 DP, above +2 SD, overweight and about malnutrition, DP < - 1. There was eutrofism between 70.1% of children diagnosed deficiency of 27.1% and 2.8% by weight; analyzing each indicator, the deficit was predominant for E/I (41.4%). The more representative of eutrofism shows a decline in child malnutrition, however, the nutritional status of the commitment shown by the indicator stature/age is still significant, which indicates a long period of feeding, poor and inadequate nutrition.
