O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar o estado nutricional de pacientes com transtorno alimentar (TA) atendidos em um hospital da rede pública de Fortaleza, Ceará. Treze indivíduos foram entrevistados sobre aspectos sócio-demográficos e avaliados quanto ao seu estado nutricional através do Índice de Massa Corporal (IMC), segundo os critérios da World Health Organization (WHO, 1995 e 2007). Dos pacientes estudados, 100% eram do sexo feminino, a maioria (62%) apresentava bulimia e estava na faixa etária de 14-23 anos, com bom nível de escolaridade e uma razoável renda mensal familiar. A prevalência de baixo peso foi maior nos pacientes anoréxicos (60%), enquanto a eutrofia foi mais prevalente nos bulímicos (63%). O IMC na fase inicial e atual do tratamento apresentou diferença significante (p< 0,05). Concluiu-se que houve uma melhora no estado nutricional dos pacientes, o que reforça a importância do tratamento ambulatorial de TA realizado por uma equipe multiprofissional.

The aim of this study was to assess the nutritional status of patients with eating disorders (ED) attended in a public hospital of Fortaleza, Ceará. Thirteen individuals were interviewed about socio-demographic aspects and the nutritional status evaluated through the Mass Body Index (BMI), according to the criteria of the WHO (1995 and 2007.) 100% of the patients were female, the majority (62%) showed bulimia and was 14-23 years-old with good scholastic and familiar reasonable income. The prevalence of low weight was higher in anorexic patients (60%), while eutrofia was more prevalent in bulimic patients (63%). The BMI in the initial phase and current treatment showed significant difference (p < 0,05). It was concluded that there was an improvement in the nutritional status of patients, which reinforces the importance of ambulatory treatment of ED performed by a multiprofessional group.
