abstract
About 85% of oncology patients are at nutritional risk or become malnourished due to the disease or its treatments. However, women with breast cancer undergoing chemotherapy tend to gain weight; therefore it is recommended to control this gain and minimize its occurrence. The aim of this paper was to evaluate the nutritional status and food intake of outpatient women with breast cancer undergoing chemotherapy, and to evaluate if there are differences in these parameters between the 1st and the 4th chemotherapy cycles. The data of 5 women have been collected using Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment, bioelectrical impedance, anthropometric measures, and the diet history. A descriptive analysis of the variables has been done, and the differences between the two moments has been analyzed using the t-Student test. No significant changes have been observed between the two evaluations regarding nutritional status and food intake, despite the drugs side effects reported by the patients.
