Palavras-chave: Crianças, Adolescentes, Obesidade, Perda de peso. Abstract: Obesity is a multifactorial disease, difficult to control, with high rates of treatment failure and relapse, for which a multi-disciplinary treatment is the ideal. The treatment of obesity in children and adolescents is a major challenge to health professionals. Studies show that multi-disciplinary and non-drug treatment based on cognitive behavioral therapy is able to present good results when applied in young obese population. Behavioral programs have been effective in the management of childhood obesity with long-term promising results as demonstrated in studies cited by World Health Organization (WHO). The obesity treatment in children and adolescents guided by CBT techniques, mainly aims changes in behavior and thoughts related to food, weight loss, body image and physical activity. This treatment approach is currently the most appropriate and with more efficacy studies in the care of children and adolescents with obesity. Recebido – 31/7/2015 aprovado – 25/8/2015 |
