abstract
The aim of this paper was to verify the effects of a ten week strength training in relation to body composition, lipidic profile and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) in subjects with DM1. This is a case study of Diabetes Mellitus type 1 (DM1) in three male subjects who volunteered to participate. Training was performed twice a week, and consisted of a multiple training series with repetitions 3x10-12. It was performed three 1-RM tests; and two tests of muscular resistance with 60% 1 RM. Blood was collected to verify the lipidic profile (Cholesterol HDL, LDL and Total), and HbA1c - before and after ten weeks of the training. The results presented a decrease in HbA1c levels of two subjects. In the total cholesterol and LDL analysis did not occur an increase in the three subjects, just one participant had a short increase in the HDL levels; in the muscular strength analysis - through the 1RM test - the three volunteers had an increasing; in the physical evaluation analysis. There was an increasing in the weight of the three volunteers since they increased the muscle mass, which was indicated through the skinfold measurements. I In the of number of repetition tests with 60% of 1RM occurred an increase in the performance of repetitions.
