RESUMO: O sobrepeso em crianças vem aumentando nos últimos anos, sendo influenciado pela inadequação dos hábitos alimentares e, contribuindo para o surgimento precoce de algumas doenças, tais como, o diabetes e a hipertensão. O trabalho teve como objetivo identificar os desvios nutricionais e os hábitos alimentares de pré-escolares matriculados em doze escolas municipais situadas na região Sul da cidade de São Paulo. Foram calculadas as estimativas da prevalência de baixa estatura, baixo peso, sobrepeso e obesidade em crianças a partir dos indicadores estatura/idade (E/I) e índice de massa corporal/idade (IMC/I) expressos em escore z. Os dados antropométricos coletados foram inseridos no programa de nutrição ANTHRO para estabelecer a idade e os índices antropométricos. Foi aplicado aos pais das crianças um questionário com perguntas referentes aos hábitos alimentares. Os resultados apontam para a maior prevalência de sobrepeso (14,8%) nas meninas e obesidade (11,6%) nos meninos, além do aumento na frequência do consumo de alimentos considerados “obesogênicos”, confirmando estudos que relatam o aumento do excesso de gordura corporal entre as crianças brasileiras nas últimas décadas.
ABSTRACT: Overweight in children has increased in recent years, being influenced by inadequate eating habits and contributing to the early onset of some diseases, such as diabetes and hypertension. The study aimed to identify nutritional problems and eating habits of preschool children enrolled in twelve municipal schools located in the southern region of the city of São Paulo. Estimates of the prevalence of stunting, underweight, overweight and obesity in children were calculated from the indicators height / age (H / A) and BMI / age mass (BMI / A) expressed as z scores. Anthropometric data were entered into the nutrition ANTHRO program to establish the age and anthropometric indices. Parents of the children was a questionnaire with questions relating to eating habits. The results point to a higher prevalence of overweight (14.8%) and obesity in girls (11.6%) in boys, and increased the frequency of consumption of foods considered "obesogenic", confirming studies reporting increased excess body fat among Brazilian children in recent decades.
